Interpreting Blood Glucose Levels

Key summary

Under Korean (KDCA) criteria, a fasting blood glucose below 100 and an HbA1c below 5.7% are normal. A fasting blood glucose of 100–125 or an HbA1c of 5.7–6.4% is prediabetes. A fasting blood glucose of 126 or higher or an HbA1c of 6.5% or higher meets the diagnostic criteria for diabetes. A diabetes diagnosis is confirmed by repeat testing on a different day.
