Frequently asked questions
What kind of organisation is KAMH?
It is an organisation that provides evidence-based information on metabolic health, centred on blood glucose and body fat, and runs campaigns and education that support practice in daily life.
My self-check result came back as “at risk.” What should I do?
The self-check is for reference only. If any item exceeds the criteria, please get an accurate test and consultation at a nearby medical institution.
Does prediabetes always turn into diabetes?
Not necessarily. However, because the risk is high, weight management, physical activity, dietary control and regular health checks are recommended.
My BMI is normal, but my waist circumference is over the criterion.
Even with a normal weight, fat can build up in the abdomen. Because waist circumference is a diagnostic criterion for metabolic syndrome, it is a good idea to manage it as well.
Can anyone become a member?
Anyone interested in metabolic health can join as a General member. Professional membership is for experts in related fields, and a credential verification process applies.
Where do the statistics on the website come from?
We cite published data from reputable organisations such as the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), the Korean Diabetes Association (KDA), the Korean Society for the Study of Obesity (KSSO), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), and we list the source and reference year at the bottom of each page.
Does the KAMH website also introduce products?
We present products of partner companies on the “Partner company” page and in areas labelled “Partner company product.” These are not certifications or endorsements by KAMH. Please talk with your health care provider about treatment based on your personal health condition.
