Loganin
A signature compound of Cornus fruit and its quality marker compound
Loganin is an iridoid glycoside found in Cornus fruit (Cornus officinalis, Asiatic dogwood). Because it is a signature compound that distinguishes Cornus from other fruits, it is used as a marker compound to confirm the authenticity and quality of the raw material.
The Korean Pharmacopoeia sets a combined total of at least 1.2% loganin and morroniside as the quality standard for Cornus fruit. In cell and animal studies, reduced expression of genes related to fat cell differentiation has been reported.

The Cornus extract complex, which is controlled using loganin as a marker compound, has been turned into the consumer product ‘SANBIDAM Premium’ by partner company ONDAM BIO.
